Capturing the Hearts and Ears of Hispanic Consumers With Music

Hispanic consumers know when brands and agencies are checking the multicultural box. Authentic connections happen when marketers begin by asking how they can better understand their audiences. A recent meeting with a brand marketer drove this question home for me. What began as a conversation about multicultural marketing became an opportunity to discuss the critical role music plays in understanding Hispanic consumers. As a Nielsen report made clear, music is a passion point for Hispanic audiences. Here’s how marketers can ensure that they’re speaking the same language as the audiences they’re trying to reach. How consumers access music is just as important as the kind of music they listen to. According to Nielsen, Hispanics spend 32 hours a week with music overall. Just under half of that time is spent streaming, while 14% of listening happens via digital libraries. Furthermore, Hispanics are likely listening on mobile. A recent eMarketer report found that Hispanics average three hours per day on smartphones, which is an hour more, on average, than non-Hispanic audiences. For marketers, understanding the mobile music context is key because mobile overlaps with social. Accordi...

For over seven decades, Sheila Hicks has devised a diversity of forms in fiber from the perspective of painting and photography, including weavings, sculptures, architectural commissions, and monumental installations. Her abstractions triumph and transcend hierarchies of medium, gender, and geography. Pioneering contemporary art’s global turn, Hicks embraced opportunities in novel exhibition, manufacturing, and design contexts in Latin America, Africa, India, Japan, Israel, and Saudi Arabia, well before such engagement became the norm. Below, she reflects on her upbringing in the American Midwest through the prism of two new exhibitions, “Campo Abierto (Open Field),” a survey of historic and more recent work at the Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach, which is on view until September 29, 2019, and “Sheila Hicks: Seize, Weave Space,” which features new site-specific installations and is on view at the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas until August 18, 2019. I ALWAYS SAY I GREW UP IN A CAR. In the Midwest, during the Depression, we were migratory. My father was moving about for work. So my brother and I learned how to play games and entertain ourselves in the back seat. We know prob...

Cooler Master Launches V Gold Series Power Supplies

Ahead of Computex proper, Cooler Master has unveiled its new V Gold series of power supplies. The 80PLUS Gold-rated PSUs come in in two capacities, 650 W and 750W, are fully modular, and include a 10-year warranty. The new V Gold series succeeds the previous V series models, which are now coming up on 5 years old. The biggest feature update aside from the new 80PLUS Gold efficiency rating is a new semi-fanless mode. Like several other PSU vendors, Cooler Master is implementing a hybrid cooling mode, where the cooling fan won’t come on unless it’s needed. In the case of the V Gold series power supplies, the large 135 mm cooling fan will kick in at 40% load, and users can disable this feature (engaging the fan full-time) via a switch at the rear of the unit if desired. Another benefit to the new range is each model has a fully modular design which can help greatly with cable management, with each PCIe cable using 16 AWG gauge wiring. Meanwhile each V Gold series power supply comes with a 10-year manufacturers warranty. The Cooler Master V Gold series of power supplies are currently available in both 650 W, and 750 W capacities; the 650 W has an MSRP of $130, while the...

But in Whati, N.W.T., a community of about 470 people more than 160 kilometres northwest of Yellowknife, acquiring a dress for that highly-anticipated event can be a challenge. Living in a remote community, “you can’t really dress up girly,” said community member Samantha Migwi. Formal wear is hard to come by. This year, however, a group of girls from Mezi Community School arrived at prom Thursday resplendent in gem tones, sequins and gauze, thanks to the clever thinking ofMigwi and Diane Beaverho. “The girls reached out to us asking if we had any prom dresses, personally, at home, and we were like, ‘maybe not, maybe one,’” said Migwi. “We said: ’OK, we’ll help try to find dresses for you girls.’ So Diane posted on social media and got an overwhelming turnout.” Donations poured in from Yellowknife, Fort Smith and Fort Resolution; the Yellowknife Sutherland’s Drugs sent accessories and Shoppers Drug Mart came through with makeup. “I didn’t expect that to happen,” said Beaverho, adding the girls were “super excited” to wear their dresses. In a hotel room the day before prom...

The Texas coastal plain surrounding Houston and Galveston contains a surprising variety of natural landscapes — along with a number of parks, preserves, and other opportunities to enjoy said landscapes. Late spring is a good time for getting out into nature, before temperatures start to melt pavement in the parking lots. At places with visitor centers, take the time to stop in for maps, trail guides, and general advice from the staff. And be sure to check the weather forecast. EXCLUSIVE: Bajaj Urbanite’s New e-Scooter Could Be Called Chetak. Pricing Details And More!

The Bajaj e-scooter has been spotted testing by us today. This is the second time it has been seen in Pune, covered head to toe in camouflage. Could this mean that its launch is on the horizon? Likely. Sources close to the company has also revealed that the e-scooter might be called ‘Chetak’ and will be sold under the brand’s Urbanite range. Additionally, Bosch is said to have a major role in the development of the electric Chetak.   Coming to the spy shots, let’s take a look at what’s new here. We can now clearly make out the scooter will run a front disc/rear drum brake setup. The scooter is most likely to be sporting 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends. In terms of practicality, the scooter also appears to get a front apron-mounted storage compartment, which could be removable and optional. While we couldn’t make out much else on the styling front, the Urbanite also seems to be sporting a fully digital instrument console. Earlier spy shots had already confirmed that the e-scooter will be sporting a retro design, an evolution of sorts of the Bajaj Chetak, its namesake. Other design elements include handlebar-mounted LED headlamps, apron-mounted turn indicators...
